Authors Ted Geltner (Blood, Bone, and Marrow) and Jean Cash (Rough South, Rural South) discuss region, class, and characterization in recent Southern literature with writer Steve Weddle.

Jean W. Cash, editor of Rough South, Rural South: Region and Class in Recent Southern Fiction, is an English professor at James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Va. Her publications include Larry Brown: A Writer's Life, Flannery O'Connor: A Life, and Larry Brown and the Blue Collar South, also with Keith Perry.

Ted Geltner, author of Blood, Bone, and Marrow: A Biography of Harry Crews, is an associate professor of journalism at Valdosta State University, adviser to the campus newspaper, and author of Last King of the Sports Page: The Life and Career of Jim Murray.

Moderator: Steve Weddle
Steve Weddle teaches writing at LitReactor, blogs at DoSomeDamage, and edits Needle: A Magazine of Noir. His debut novel, Country Hardball, was called “downright dazzling” by the New York Times. The follow-up story, “South of Bradley,” appeared in Playboy magazine.
